Through my creative explorations, I investigate and embody the concept of ‘non-dualism’.
In my life, I’ve had powerful experiences that illustrate this way of understanding, and above all, of feeling life. The birth of my son and the death of my two grandmothers were two transformative moments that deeply marked me. These experiences were both completely physical and bodily, yet also profoundly spiritual and ethereal—representing the very core of my artistic explorations. The joy of new life and the sorrow of death, both intensely tangible and simultaneously spiritually transforming, opened my eyes to the interconnectedness of all things, and this theme continues to influence my life and artistic endeavours on a daily basis.
My background also reflects an apparent dichotomy—I’m both a plastic artist and a financier, two disciplines that might seem unrelated to many but, in my life, complement each other as parts of a unified whole. My experiences growing up in Mexico City and later living in Vancouver further reflect my non-dualistic nature. As a Mexican-born artist living in Canada, I navigate the space between cultures, drawing from diverse influences that enrich my creative and personal experience. This bicultural perspective has deepened my understanding of the interconnectedness between time, people, places, and ideas.
My work aims to showcase the non-dual nature of our existence, showing that art, like life, are a constant flow between seemingly opposing forces. My practice isn’t just a reflection of this philosophy but a living testament to it.
