With a successful career in the financial world, Anuar Heberlein takes a new turn in his professional path, presenting himself for the first time as a visual artist. His debut work, “Past, Present, Future”, was recently inaugurated at the Mónica Reyes Gallery, within the Museum of Vancouver in Canada, where the Consul General of Mexico in Vancouver attended.

Convinced to follow his intuition and explore his creative side, Heberlein builds a deeply personal body of work, inspired by the emotions shared across generations of migrants: uncertainty, nostalgia, and belonging. The exhibition reflects on how the passage of time does not erase —but rather transforms— the bond with home and one’s origins.
The series draws from letters and documents written by migrants from different parts of the world more than two centuries ago. Through these voices from the past, the artist recognizes in them his own concerns and hopes: the well-being of loved ones, the adaptation to new lands, and the search for meaning amidst change.
“I saw myself in people who no longer exist, from another time and culture, who faced the same challenges as I did. Somehow, we managed to navigate and resolve what once seemed impossible”.
Shares Heberlein, highlighting the universal and timeless nature of his work.
